Page 1 of 10 Journeyings Exhibition
Journeyings is an exciting exhibition of textile art presented by "Colurful Women". Whilst the exhibition is not exclusively quilting we decided to feature the show anyway. We need to support those who are passionate and exploring creativity and innovation.
The images of the exhibition start on page 2. Each page is dedicated to one artist.

And now some words from the group about themselves and the exhibition:
COLOURFUL WOMEN
“JOURNEYINGS”
We are an eclectic group of women who first came together in 2003 to study textiles at Box Hill Institute of TAFE in Melbourne. The Textiles/Studio Stitch Diploma of Arts is a part time course run over three years. What brought us together then was our common passion for fabric, stitch, texture and colour. We graduated in 2005 and after a year or so of R&R and exhibiting as individual artists, that same common passion has brought us together again to explore and interpret our textile art through a theme, “Journeyings”.
Although nine of us are exhibiting on this occasion, Colourful Women actually has thirteen members. The exhibiting members are: Lou Carroll, Margaret Craven, Bridget Frawley, Lyn Guy, Yve Hart, Brigitte Haldemann, Phyllis Hoffman, Jacie Malseed and Maggie Osinga.
You will see a diverse range of approaches to this theme. Using a variety of techniques and media, individual interpretations are inspired by each artist’s own ‘Journeying’ stories, expressed through their own personality, perception, and life experiences. The wide range of media utilised by the artists includes mixed media, screen printing, dyeing, silk painting, acrylics, quilting, felting and, of course, hand and machine stitch.
Along the way, each of us has faced challenges in extending our creativity and innovation as textile artists. Quite apart from working through technical challenges, there have been all those terrifying ‘self’ challenges to deal with - self-doubt, self-exposure, self-worth, self-expression and self-confidence. We will spare you the gory details. Suffice to say, as individuals and as a group, we have triumphed over these ‘would-be sabateurs’ to stage this current exhibition at the prestigious Convent Gallery in the beautiful environs of Daylesford.
As we have been inspired and uplifted in the process of creating our artworks, we trust that you, too, will feel inspired and uplifted as you learn more about us by visiting our exhibition if you haven’t already seen it.
The exposure of our work through exhibition promotes textiles and brings a little-known yet growing art form into the public arena.
