Welcome to Issue #5 of iQuilt. For me this has been a very busy fortnight. I would like to thank everyone for all the support and encouragement that I have received. This has validated my vision for iQuilt.
There have been lots of things happening for us to report on, both at iQuilt and around the country. Most importantly, I need to tell you about accessing projects. From now on you will need to Login to read our projects. For Issues 5 and 6 projects will still be free but you need to register. Subject to successful implementation of subscriptions, from Issue 7 onwards you will need to be a subscriber to read the projects. This will also apply to other content over time but we tell you more later.
The winners from the Quilt Showcase 2007 have been announced Australian Machine Quilters Exhibition 2007 and last Monday the Ekka announced the winners of Quilts across Queensland. In Vic & Qld Winners we have a link to the announcement of winners and we hope to bring you some images and more details in next issue.
The Canberra Quilt show has just finished and one of the exhibitions was the Pe-ac-ed with Love exhibition. We bring you a special feature on this. It will also be exhibited at the remaining Craft & Quilt Fairs this year so check Wot's On for your area to see if you still get a chance to see this exhibition.
Another exhibition on at the moment is Journeyings by Colourful Women at the Convent in Daylesville. Last issue we gave you a little taste of this and this issue we have a more comprehensive article on this diverse exhibition.
The Quilters' Guild of NSW Inc is calling for entries in The New Quilt 2008. This is a biennial exhibition featuring contemporary quilts. As well as the call for entries we have a special feature on contemporary quilts from 2007 Sydney Quilt Show. Here you can see the winning art quilt as well as a selection of other contemporary quilts to showcase the diversity of this genre.
Lisa Walton has a solo exhibition coming up and we give you a little taste of this.
And finally our projects are again very appealing. However you will need to log on to view the projects. We have a new project, Hexagon Garden, from Joy White. Blue House Quilts have made a lovely bright quilt called Summer Breeze. Be sure to visit their website as they have a great BOM at the moment. Elizabeth Wallace has answered the enquiry of one of our readers and made an Attic Window quilt. And finally, I have made PIF Checkerboard as my first Pay it Forward offering. Sorry Bron but you will see it here first before you receive it.
