Finished Size: 12in square

Have fun making these quick and easy woven placemats.  Use two contrasting fabrics or mix the fabrics as much as you like. As an added bonus they are great for making with the kids! Instructions and quantities are given for six 12in x 12in placemats but it is easy to adjust the size to your own requirements

 

Fabrics

All fabrics 42in (110cm) wide . Extra fabric has been allowed to accommodate some trimming or straightening.

Grey print --- 1.3cm (1 1/2yd) for the body of placemat and binding

Pink Print --- 70cm (3/4yd) for the body of placemat

Pink Solid --- 80cm (1yd) for backing

Iron on interfacing --- 80cm (1yd)

Batting --- 80cm (1yd) or 6 x 13in squares

 

Notions

Quilting thread to match fabric

Glue stick

Cardboard – Nora used the side of a packing box

 

Tools

Rotary cutter, ruler and mat

Iron

Sewing machine for quilting
