Issue 2007/01 May 2007

Welcome to the first issue of iQuilt.

Nora Buckley and I, Karen Fail, have initiated iQuilt for all you material girls (and boys) online.

We have had great fun getting all the technology sorted (Nora) and organising regular contributors and projects (Karen)and we hope you enjoy the mix. Every two weeks, there will be a new issue of iQuilt for you to enjoy. Register and we can let you know when the next issue is online.

The first four issues are FREE and will be online for six months. In July, however, we will be making full access to iQuilt available by subscription only. All your magazines will be stored online for you to enjoy any time during your subscription period. And with a comprehensive index of all projects and features, you will never be at a loss when trying to find a specific article. Look out for details of how to subscribe coming soon.

In this issue, we look as the very special Memories quilt made by my family for my mother-in-law Gwyn Fail who was celebrating 50 years in Australia. It hangs in her living room and is admired by all. And yes, she is really holding tiger cubs from the University Farm in Camden in one of the images. Nora has designed a project suitable for children to make - Galahs. These woven mats are already a hit with her two young boys who want to get stuck into making them - for their mum, of course. And Joy White shares her latest design with iQuilt - Pretty in Pink - in the very popular palette of soft pinks and greens.

Every issue we hope to offer you a kit and in this issue we have persuaded the girls from Material Obsession in Hunter's Hill, NSW to share the pattern for Avalon. If you do not have a large collection of funky 50s style prints in your stash, then you can take all the guesswork out of selecting fabrics and buy their kit.

Come back regularly as we will be adding new sections and features to iQuilt over the next three issues as we fully establish iQuilt.com.au

Between friends,

Karen
