Welcome to the first issue of iQuilt. This is a very exciting time for me and I am really looking forward to exploring all the things I will be bring you in the future.
This column will be a regular feature of our online magazine. In Technically Speaking, I will be bringing you information on how to use our website and any new features that I add along the way. I will also tell you about any other technical things I encounter that I think may be of interest to quilters such as computer based quilt design and quilting techniques.
I have a background in Mechanical Engineering and love applying my professional experience to quilting. So if you have any problems with our website, suggestions for enhancements, technical questions or quilting problems for me to solve that others would be interested in, feel free to ask by emailing me at :

with "iq technical" in the subject line and I will do my best to help.
Being the first issue of iQuilt there are a number of features that are not operation yet but will be operation next issue. For example it is pointless having archives when we have nothing to archive yet. As these features become operation (read as Nora works out how to do this) I will tell you about them in this column.
For my first explanation about our site, I want to explain how to navigate your way around our site.
The Home page is the "cover" of the current issue of iQuilt. It has an introduction to our featured content and the projects. When you move your mouse across and it becomes a hand you can click to go to the corresponding content item.
On our site you will see two menus - one across the top and one on the left hand side. These are there regardless of where you go on our site.
The top menu is to navigate permanent areas of our website such us About Us and Links.
The left hand menu is to navigate your way around the current issue of iQuilt. This is the represents the Table of Contents for the issue. By keeping it visible all the time you cn navigate you way around the issue without having to return to the home page.
Some items have links embedded in them and when you move your mouse across a link the pointer will change to a hand. Click to follow the link. If the link is within our website most of the time you will go to that item in the same window. One exception to this is when a link to a technique is embedded in a project. Then the target will open in a new window so you can view the project and the technique at the same time.
Usually, if the link is to an external target, the link will open a new window.
So go explore iQuilt, our new online magazine. I hope you enjoy.
